European Conference of Support and Solidarity with the Saharawi People
44 years of struggle for Independence and Decolonisation of Western Sahara, a guarantee for Peace and Stability in the Region
The European Conference of Support and Solidarity with the Saharawi People (EUCOCO) has been held continuously in a different European city every year since 1975, the year the conflict broke out.
The EUCOCO is, without a doubt, the most important annual meeting of the European Solidarity Movement with the Saharawi People. It must be said at the outset that, although the word “European” is still used, EUCOCO has long had an international dimension, welcoming organisations and individuals from the five continents, with a greater presence of European participants.
Representatives of governments that recognise the SADR, European and national elective representatives and members of parliaments, regional governments, town and provincial councils of Spain, political and trade union organisations, associations of friends of the Saharawi people and NGOs in general, participate every year in this mandatory meeting of solidarity.
So do the Saharawi people at the highest level, represented by various authorities of the Saharawi Government, as well as ambassadors and delegates from numerous countries.
After the last two editions held in Paris and Madrid, respectively, the Organising Committee has agreed that the next edition of EUCOCO, which will be the 44th, will take place in the Basque Country, more specifically in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
